Karamoja is located in the Far North-eastern part of Uganda in the districts of Kaabong, Kotido and Moroto. The Karamoja area offers diverse range of landscapes , a rich culture of the Karamajong people and Wildlife.
Its blessed with two National parks that is Kidepo National Park that’s home to a variety of animals and has also been listed by CNN as third best wildlife safari park in Uganda. Theres also Pian Upe wildlife reserve that’s in the south part of the region- this home to numerous rare species such as Gazelles, Topis, Heartbeest, roan antelope and many more.
Karamoja has the best unique and interesting culture to discover while on a Ugandan Cultural Safari.
The Karamajong people are believed to have migrated 1600AD from the Ethiopian highlands and settled in the present day Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia itself.
Theyre mainly pastorists recognised by their unique dresscode similar to that of the Masai of Kenya and Tanzania. The best time to visit Karamoja is during the dry months of January, February, March and December.
Our Guide will pick you up early morning from your place of abode in Kampala or Entebbe after you had breakfast and embark on your journey to Kidepo Valley National park located in the far North eastern part of Uganda. It’s a 9-10 hr drive through the beautiful scenery the countryside has to offer.
You will have lunch in Gulu town .
You will checking in your lodge upon arrival at Kidepo Valley National park in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Meal plan: Lunch and Dinner.
Wake up early morning and connect for a morning game drive in Narus Valley. As you enjoy your game drive you will be served with bush breakfast and return for mlre adventures in the savannah plains of Kidepo National Park. This area is famous for its big 4 game including the lions, elephants, buffaloes and leopards. If you lucky cheetahs and hyenahs as well and other animals like Zebras, Oribi, Kobs, Giraffes etc.
Later afternoon , go for another game drive in the kidepo valley still where u will spot ostrich birds and other animals. You will also visit the hotsprings of Kanangorok before you return to your lodge .
Spend the rest of the evening at Leisure.

After breakfast you will be driven to the starting point of Mt Murungole located in the absolute northern hills of Karamoja. Here is where you will find the smallest tribe if Uganda called the IK. The IK people lived in the present day Kidepo national park but were displaced when the area was gazetted as a national park. The IK now live on Mt Murungole ridges as a community. Visiting them gives a rare insight into the unique tribe /culture in East Africa and Africa generally.
Day 4 – Visit the Dodoth community – Transfer to Kotido and visit the Jie Community.
Your guide will pick you up after breakfast and take you to the Dodoth community . The Dodoth are the Karamajong group that’s settled in Kaabong area. They have a unique culture that’s interesting to see , there after you will be transferred to Kotido that’s about 3-4 hours . you will have lunch upon arrival and connect to visit the Jie community in Kotido. They re famously known as warriors.
Retire to your booked hotel for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, your guide will take you to visit the traditional cattle Market. This market is where people buy and sell cattle and only takes place on Wednesday. You should plan your trip accordingly to enable you visit the market. You will also visit the largest nomadic group in Africa while in Kotido as well as participate in traditional games, daily activities like preparing staple foods, beading, their beautiful dance and traditional friendly wrestling. There after transfer to Moroto that’s about 3-4 hrs with lunch along the way.
You will spend the night in a kraal and participate in bringing the animals to the kraal.

After breakfast, embark on your journey to the Eastern part of Uganda that is Kumi district where you will find the Nyero rock painting. Its about a 6–7-hour drive via Soroti- Kampala road with lunch enroute.
Upon arrival you will explore the rock paintings, learn detailed information about the rocks that are many years of age and believed to have been home for the Batwa before they were misplaced to the south west of Uganda. Take pictures and drive back to Kumi for where you are booked in. Dinner and overnight.

Wake up for your breakfast very early, check out of the hotel and set off for Kampala with lunch enroute in Jinja town and other several steps where you will need to step out and stretch and refresh. This is about 7-8 hours on the road.
You will then be dropped off at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe airport for your connecting flight back home.
